Asansol, 14 September: AS MANY as 10 girl students have been admitted to the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital on Monday after they fell ill on consuming mid-day meal at school last Friday.

In all, 35 students complained of stomach ache and nausea on returning home from their Government Girl’s High School at Madhabdihi in Burdwan last Friday. They were taken to a local primary health centre by guardian and were released the next day.

But 17 of the students again complained on Monday that they were feeling unwell and were rushed to the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. Doctors admitted 10 of them to the hospital and send home remaining seven prescribing medications.

Local Block Development Officer (BDO) Bappa Goswami has said that he was seized of the matter and would visit the school soon to probe if poor quality mid-day meal was served to the girls.
