Siliguri, 10 January: YET another Adivasi woman has fallen victim to her neighbour on the suspicion that she was practising witchcraft!
The latest incident has taken place at Rangamati tea estate in Malbazar sub-division in Jalpaiguri district yesterday evening. Budhamoniya Nagasia (50) was found dead in a poll of blood a little away from Ranikhola division of the tea garden.
According to an FIR lodged by her son Manga Nagasia at Malbazar police station, neighbour Suku Nagasia (38) hacked his mother to death when she was returning home after buying vegetables.
This is because several members of Suku’s family have been keeping unwell for some time now and he suspected that witchcraft by elderly Budhamoniya was responsible for this. Thus he was on the lookout to eliminate her and got the scope yesterday evening.
On the basis of the FIR lodged by the deceased woman’s son, police today arrested Suku Nagasia from Rangamati tea estate. Police suspect that some other motive might have had played a role in the murder as both the accused and the victim were co-workers in the tea estate.
