Siliguri, 6 October: Beginning tomorrow, people boarding flights from Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri will no longer be required to attach tag to their cabin baggage and get security stamp on it.
Bagodogra Airport director Rakesh Sahay informed that this is being done keeping in tune with the decision taken by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Other major airports in the country, including Kolkata, have already implemented this from earlier this year.
However, like before, fliers will have to get their cabin baggage scanned by x-ray machines while entering the security hold area.
Baggage tag and security stamp have been a cause for inconvenience to fliers as many a times either the CISF personnel tend to forget to put the seal or they tag fell off the tiny thread. Losing a tag or missing the security stamp means the flier shall again come to the security check for a fresh procedure.
