Siliguri: GORKHA Janmukti Morcha (GJM) president Bimal Gurung did not come out of hiding today as was claimed in posters all over Darjeeling Hills. He has instead released yet another audio message.
In this latest audio message, Gurung has claimed that the BJP-led Union government was exploring something positive for the Hills and added that he will visit New Delhi soon to take part in discussions.
“Our patient will surely bear fruit. BJP government at the Centre is considering some positive options for us and I am hopeful that they will come up a solution very soon,” the fugitive GJM president said.
He took on the Mamata Banerjee government in the state for reigning “injustice and suppression” on the people of the Hills by misusing police and with the help of “stooge” Binay Tamang and Anit Thapa.
“Notwithstanding all the torture and conspiracies, have faith that we will come out successful in achieving an identity for the Gorkhas of India. Time is very powerful; it will put an end to all the tyranny that the state government is subjecting us to,” he said.
Without offering further details, Gurung said that he will visit Delhi soon to take part in Centre’s discussions on a solution to the demand for Gorkhaland state. He also said that he was hiding in the jungles for the cause and will appear before the people in Darjeeling at the quickest opportunity possible.
