Kolkata, 12 September: BOLLYWOOD actor Sanjay Dutt called on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday thanking her for standing by him in 2013 and seeking support for future.
Dutta went to Bengal state secretariat Nabanna around 05 pm and spoke to her for nearly 30 minutes. Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee was present in the Banerjee’s chamber during the meeting.
Emerging out of the meeting, Dutt told reporters that he came to thank Banerjee for the support she had voiced for him in 2013 when the Supreme Court upheld his punishment and sent him to jail for illegal possession of firearms in 1991-92. He got released from jail only this February.
“She had been a friend to my late father, and stood by me when was passing through difficult times. I have thanked her for this and have also sought her support and blessings for the future,” he said.
Dutt added that Mamata Banerjee has invited him to the next edition of Kolkata International Film Festival which is due on 11 November. “I have accepted the invitation and would turn up for sure,” he said.
