TWO young artisans Subhajit and Somi Majumdar have brought alive the creativity of Rajasthani art to the land of Bengal at Mudiali Park community Durga Puja pandal in south Kolkata.
Emulating the Rajasthani art form, the pandal presents the story of Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati on a panel done with stone dust on glass. Gemstone painting of Jaipur, Meenakari chowki, and marble lamps have contributed to the central theme.
The Durga idol too has a distinct Rajasthani look and thus, is different from the traditional look of Maa Durga. Arun Lal, a member of the puja committee said that the art works were done in Rajasthan and then brought to Kolkata.
