Kolkata, 20 January: CHIEF Minister Mamata Banerjee today told a 4,000 strong business delegates from all over India and 29 foreign countries that her government was committed to resolve any problem faced by investors in the state within 24-hours.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of 3rd Bengal Global Business Summit at Milan Mela in the city today, Banerjee maintained that ever since coming to power her government has obliterated the culture of bandhs and mandays loss in the state.
“Earlier, 78 lakh mandays were lost during the Left Front rule due to bandhs and agitations but since 20111 we have dealt firmly against strikes and road blockades. Now, Bengal is the engine of the country’s growth and has become the destination and gateway for investment,” she said urging industrialists to take full advantage of the changed scenario.
“Consider us as not as government but as your brothers and sisters. Consider Bengal as your home. Please come and join this family,” the Chief Minister said adding that the state Cabinet recently took a decision to clear investment proposals and allot land within 15 days of receiving application from any industrialists.
She underscored that demonetisation has hit the industry and the small traders all over but her government was providing all relief possible to the industrialists.
Her appeal yielded an instant result as Hero Motors CMD, Pankaj Munjal, announced during the inaugural ceremony itself that the company would set up a bicycles manufacturing unit in Bengal with an installed capacity of three million cycles a year.
