Kolkata, 20 December: IT’s time of the year again for the children in Kolkata to rejoice the magic of the silver screen.
The sixth edition of Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival (KICFF) will kick off at Nandan in the city on 24 December with the season’s hot production Double Feluda.
The detective film directed by Satyajit Roy’s son Sandip Roy is one the 200 films that will be screened during this edition of KICFF that will last until 31 December. The films to be screened are from 33 countries.
According to KICFF executive director and Lok Sabha MP Arpita Ghosh, science fiction is the theme of the festival this time, and hence, the bouquet of films selected for screening includes movies like Terminator, Star Wars, The Martian, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, and the Despicable Me.
Several short films, animations, and documentaries will also be screened at the festival. Besides this, workshops on various aspects of movie making such as camera handling, editing, sound recording, and film appreciation would be conducted for children aged 12 years and above.
As part of the festival, an exhibition titled The Magical World of Science Fiction Films will also be showcased at the Gaganendra Pradarshanshala on Rabindra Sadan enclosures.
Entry to the festival is free for children and their accompanying parents on first come first served basis.
