Kolkata, 25 August: IN anticipation of the pre-puja rush of shoppers, Metro Railway has announced operating additional trains on Saturdays and Sundays with effect from tomorrow, 26 August.
Going by the new roster, instead of the 224 trains that are run on Saturdays, Metro Railway will operate a total of 284 trains on the each Saturdays of 26 August, 2 September, 9 September, 16 September, and 23 September.
This means, Metro will run 60 additional trains on all Saturdays until the Durga Puja that kicks off on 26 September.
Likewise, on Sundays, Metro Railway will go for a gradual increase in number of trains, beginning this Sunday, 27 August. Instead of the usual 110 trains that are run on Sundays, it will operate 136 trains on 27 August, 174 trains each on 3 September and 10 September, and 224 trains each of 17 September and 24 September.
The authorities said that for the four-days of Durga Puja, they will announce a special roster later. Similar to previous years, this Puja too they will run overnight Metro services, officials hinted.
