Behrampore, 19 April: A couple died at a village in Murshidabad district today morning after the mud walls of their house fell on them due to a thunderstorm that lashed the district late last night.
The Adivasi couple Ashok Dalui, 52, and Shobha Dalui, 40, was fast asleep when the thick mud walls of their house collapsed over them at Ranipur village located under Kandi police station area. Their lifeless body were found under the debris by neighbours today morning.
The couple used to live by themselves in the mud house, while their sons live in separate houses in the same village. The thunderstorm had started around midnight yesterday and lasted until early in the morning.
The impact of the storm was such that several houses in villages under Kandi police station area were razed to the ground. Inhabitants of other houses managed to escape in time, but the Dalui couple proved unlucky.
