Kolkata: A group of first year inmates have written to Calcutta University vice-chancellor alleging sexual harassment by senior students at the varsity’s New Law College Hostel at Sealdah in the city.
According to the complainants, on the pretext of getting introduced to the newcomers, seniors in the hostel have been intruding into their rooms post-midnight and asking them perform vulgar dance sequence and depict gay sexual intercourse.
They have specifically mentioned that two first year boys occupying room no 7 at the hostel have been subjected to sexual harassment by the seniors. All these are happening even as the Supreme Court has banned ragging in educational institutes and facilities.
CU authorities are yet to react on the complaints.
