Barasat: A youth enmeshed with his mobile headphone has been mowed dead by a train at Bhyabla in North 24-Parganas district.
The incident took place today afternoon and the police are yet to establish the identity of the youth in his early twenties.
An eyewitness woman said that around 3 pm the youth was walking over the railway line at Daspara off Bhyabla railway station. A headphone was inserted into his ear holes and a mobile phone was in his hand as the youth moved along visibly enmeshed in listening something.
A Barasat- Hasnabad passenger train was passing through the area at that time and the driver blew the horn repeatedly to warn of the youth. But he was so engrossed with the headphone that he hardly heard anything and was mowed dead right on the railway line.
Learning about this from local residents, a Government Railway Police team arrived at the spot and took away the dead body. Police have also recovered the headphone that was still stuck in his ears.
