Kolkata: TO raise awareness on menstrual hygiene among rural girls, leading Bengali film production house SVF will hold a special screening of Akshay Kumar-starrer Hindi movie Padman at its Krishnanagar (Nadia) multiplex on 28 February.
The special screening will be conducted for 250 girls selected and brought by the Nadia district administration. They will mostly comprise beneficiaries of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s pet project Kanyashree, SVF said in a statement today.
The production house, which also owns multiplexes or single-screen movie theatres in several districts of Bengal, happens to be the distributor of Padman in eastern India states.
It has already organised a similar special screening of the movie at Purulia on 22 February. Around 250 girl students from in and around Purulia town watched the movie that depicts the real-life endeavour of a man to break the social taboo on the use of sanitary napkins.
