Kolkata, 21 October: AHARE Bangla, a unique food festival organised by the Bengal government has kicked off at Milan Mela ground near Science City on EM Bypass this evening.
This is the second edition of the annual gastronomic event being organised at a whopping budget of Rs 4.25 crore. The festival will continue until 25 October from 12 noon to 09 pm, and entry is free.
The festival this year is offering authentic international cuisines from China, Russia, and Bangladesh. Each of these countries, being represented by their consulates in Kolkata, has put up seven food stalls.
This is in addition to the 30-odd famous food outlets from the city such as Bhajahari Manna, who have lined up their dishes in the food stalls at the festival. This includes eight veg, 10 non veg zones, and a dedicated dessert zone with 23 famed sweet shops from Kolkata.
The state food processing and horticulture department which is organising the fest said that for the benefit of food lovers, the time for serving food at the festival stalls has been categorised. Lunch will be served from 12 noon to 03 pm; snacks from 03 pm to 06 pm; and dinner from 06 pm to 09 pm. The food being served has a price ranged of Rs 20 – Rs 300.
The organisers have dedicated 22 October for traditional Bengali vegetarian food, 23 October for Bengali non-veg dishes having colonial influence, 24 October for egg recipes, and the concluding day 25 October has been set aside for fish dishes.
