Kolkata, 16 March: MAMATA Banerjee government has provided employment to Ruby Roy, the widow of Sanjay Roy of Dankuni who died due to alleged negligence in treatment at Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals in the city.
Ruby, who is in her 30’s, has been appointed a trainee assistant manager in the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation initially for a period of one year from the date of joining.
On successful completion of the traineeship, she would be absorbed permanently against a regular vacancy, he appointment letter states. During the traineeship of one year, Ruby would get a consolidated pay of Rs 20,000 a month.
The move comes at the behest of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has already ordered a probe by the state health department into Sanjay Roy’s death. Ruby has been given the job as her late husband was the only bread earner of the family and she has a toddler son to look after.
After receiving the appointment letter from the Chief Minister at Nabanna today, Ruby said that she was indebted to her for the support that has been extended. “Didi has told me that she was like my mother and that she wanted me to become self-sufficient,” Ruby added.
