Bolpur, 16 November: ON a day Mamata Banerjee called on the President against demonetisation, torn pieces of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes were found floating in a drain in front the house of a politician couple at Bolpur in Birbhum.
Incidentally, the two councillors belong to the Trinamool. The torn notes were found this morning in front of Bolpur Municipality councillors Parna Ghosh and her husband Sudita Ghosh’s house.
Parna is a councillor from ward number 14; Sudita represents the neighbouring ward.
The discovery of the torn notes created quite a buzz in the area and people from different parts of Bolpur rushed to catch a glimpse. Some even picked up the torn notes from the drains.
It was not clear how the torn notes came there and who threw them into the drain. But residents suspect that whosoever did this, had done so to get rid of unaccounted money in view of the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.
None of the Trinamool councillor couple agreed to make a guess on this!
