Kolkata, 20 March: SUPREME Court would on Tuesday hear separate petitions by the state government and the Trinamool challenging CBI probe order by Calcutta High Court in the Naranadnews Sting Operation.
The hearing is scheduled at 02 pm, and senior advocates Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi are likely to represent the Trinamool and the state government, respectively.
The petitions ~ one by state transport minister Suvendu Adhikari on behalf of Trinamool, and another by a deputy secretary of the state government, were filed today in the apex court.
Coinciding this, Bengal Congress leader Abdul Mannan has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding that the CBI probe should be carried out under the monitoring of the court.
This apart, another state Congress leader Amitabha Chakraborty has filed a caveat in the apex court as regards hearing of the petition filed by Trinamool challenging Calcutta High Court’s order.
Chakraborty is one the three persons on whose public interest litigations Calcutta High Court on 17 March ordered a preliminary probe by CBI in the Naradanews Sting Operation that captured several Trinamool ministers, MPs, and an IPS officer were captured taking bribe.
Meanwhile, as directed by the High Court, CBI is likely to submit its preliminary probe report in the court on Tuesday at the end of the 72-hour deadline.
